POSITION: Security Guard
OPENING DATE: August 17th, 2008
CLOSING DATE: August 31st, 2008
WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week
The United States Embassy in Tripoli is seeking an individual for the full time (40 hours/week) position of Security Guard.
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
Security Guards provide protective services to United States Government facilities and personnel. They routinely patrol their assigned area in order to detect and deter any hostile act. If such an act is detected, guards take whatever action is necessary to safeguard United States Government property and personnel.
In accomplishing their duties, guards:
- Operate explosive detection equipment, vehicle arrest systems, and other security equipment.
- Interview suspicious individuals and submit reports to the USG Security Office.
- Maintain a log of all events that take place during the shift.
Guards must be completely familiar with all regulations contained within the guard orders and must carry out those order thoroughly and consistently.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of secondary school.
- Prior military, law enforcement, or security work.
- Fluency in Arabic and a working knowledge of English.
- Knowledge of local law enforcement and security institutions.
Guards must be able to:
- Follow orders.
- Take charge in the event of an emergency.
- React to unusual situations.
- Use force, if necessary, in the performance of their duty.
SELECTION PROCESS:
When equally qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (AEFMs) and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
- Current employees are not eligible to apply for advertised positions within the first six months of their employment.
